Focus on Men’s Health at The Valley on Monday

Thursday 13th April 2017

Charlton’s match against Gillingham on Bank Holiday Monday match has been dedicated as “Men’s Health Day” to encourage fans to be mindful of their health and promote the array of support and programmes Charlton Athletic Community Trust (CACT) have to offer.

Health advisors and volunteers will be around the ground from 1pm-2pm offering on the spot health checks in Valley Central and dispensing advice to supporters who want to know more about CACT’s Health Improvement programmes.

Programmes like ‘Football Fans in Training’ and fanactiv offer lifestyle programmes for men over 30 looking to change their habits and improve their health.

FanActiv is an initiative of London United, a cooperative of the community trusts or foundations of the professional clubs in London, and has 9 clubs involved in healthy competition to lose weight and get active.

Participants attend weekly health and activity sessions for 12 weeks, wore Fitbit wristbands to monitor their activity and used a mobile phone app that logged everyone's results and created league tables to encourage healthy competition.
