Maritime Radio sails through a successful summer at Valley Central

Local radio station Maritime Radio recently completed a month-long stint broadcasting live from Valley Central Youth Hub in Charlton.

The community radio station aired across the Royal Borough of Greenwich for four weeks until the 23rd September.

Live programmes were broadcast daily between 7am and 10pm, including a mix of features, news, sport, traffic and travel bulletins for the area across FM.

During their time at Valley Central, Maritime Radio kindly promoted the events and different strands of work the Charlton Athletic Community Trust (CACT) undertakes. They aired interviews with trust staff in the health improvement and youth service teams as well as partners including Greenwich Leisure Limited and the University of Greenwich.

Matt Horne, youth service partnership manager at CACT said: “Our time with Maritime Radio is a great example of the partnerships CACT fosters with other local organisations. They do an amazing job representing all the local news and views and we are happy to have helped them with facilities in the heart of the community.”

Duncan Martin, said: “We enjoyed being part of the hive of activity at Valley Central. Our run was a success and we’re now looking to get a license to run the radio station full time. Watch this space!”
