vALTERNATIVE PROVISION’S ACHIEVEMENTS IN YEAR 1

Charlton Athletic Community Trust’s Alternative Provision, known as CACT AP, has seen a successful first year of existence since it’s re-structuring in September 2015.

Formerly known as the YAF, CACT AP has secured 22 referrals throughout the academic year, and in doing so, surpassing the original target of 20.

A simplified curriculum offer, along with a more robust ‘fit for purpose’ behaviour policy has proven vital in reducing exclusions, improving attainment and achieving higher attendance, which is up 11% from 2014/2015.

CACT AP works with 15 schools across Bexley, Greenwich and Lewisham and has once again established itself as a credible AP with plans in the future to apply for independent school status (ISS). With a view to focus more on the quality of teaching and learning across the provision, alongside securing yearly SLA’s, this will enable CACT AP to bring in the necessary staff to improve the provision with an end goal of becoming a registered school.

Director of Education, Sport and Health at Charlton Athletic Community Trust Alan Sanders has been pleased with the team’s dedication since its restructure last year.

“Our staff are really keen to ensure that all of our students achieve their true potential and go on to their chosen destination”, he said.

“We’ve already had some truly inspirational success stories and I’m sure there will be many more to come”.
