U18S REPORT | Hull City 0 Charlton 3

Olly Groome reports

Charlton’s U18s eased to a fifth consecutive victory as they tightened their grip on top spot with a 3-0 success at Hull City on March 4th.

Just six minutes were on the clock when Alex Willis prodded the young Addicks in front and it came from a stunning piece of skill from Timmy Abraham.

When a left-sided corner ran all the way through to the far byline, the striker chased it down, persued by a defender. With his back to goal, Abraham scooped the ball up, over both his own head and that of the Tigers’ number six, turned and laid it on for Romarno Simpson, whose goalbound shot was tapped home by Willis from two yards.

Charlton enjoyed a host of opportunities to extend their lead, but it was not until 15 minutes from time that they grabbed their second courtesy of Albie Morgan.

The midfielder finished off a fine, flowing move forward, latching onto a neat through ball to dispatch a low shot across the keeper and in off the left-hand upright to put the visitors into a comfortable position in the latter stages.

All three points were made completely safe in the 88th minute with Willis bagging his second, bringing his season tally to 19 goals.

Morgan claimed the assist, delivering a free-kick from the left that was met by the striker’s head as the ball flew into the top left-hand corner to wrap up another impressive win for the youngsters.
