WJ KING & CHARLTON UPBEATS MOTABILITY DS ACTIVE FESTIVAL

The much-loved Charlton Upbeats are to host their own Down’s syndrome football festival at the Charlton Athletic Training Ground on Saturday, September 24th.

Sponsored by Charlton Athletic Community Trust (CACT) Motabilty Partners WJ King, the event is aiming to host a number of Down’s syndrome teams from across the country in a 6-a-side tournament format.

Terry Peart, disability and mental health officer at CACT discussed the event and it’s purpose for young players with Down’s syndrome.

“There are limited opportunities for not just The Upbeats, but all Down’s syndrome football teams across the UK”, he said.

“Apart from the great DS Active National Tournament that is held annually, we thought this would be a good opportunity for the teams to come together, giving players the chance to play competitive football against each other."

As well as the football, the day will also include a BBQ and a DJ on site with all families and spectators welcome.
