FA Women’s Premier League Reserve Division 2.
Sunday 7th March
Venue – Sparrows Lane
In a very tough game against a decent Brighton team the early exchanges were evenly matched with both teams creating goalscoring opportunities. The deadlock was broken on the half hour mark with a great strike from the edge of the box from Alana Garratt.
Brighton battled back and the Addicks were very relieved to still be ahead at the break. Brighton came out very strong in the second half and drew level from a good counter attack.
The next 10 minutes were fairly even until Jess Creighton made a great run down the left wing cutting in to fire a shot across the box. The Brighton defence managed to block the cross but the rebound fell to
Creighton who duly slotted home to restore the lead after 75 minutes. Brighton continued to push for an equaliser, but Mikayla Hale and Abigail Igbavboa stood strong at the heart of the home defence.
Garratt sealed the points for Charlton with a great solo counter attacking goal.
