RICHARD SHO SILVA is the Charlton Athletic Community Football Club’s Young Player of the Year.
Richard, who has just turned 18, started in the Under-16 representative team, progressing to the Under-18s where he was a regular at the heart of the defence.
At the start of last season, he was one of two players recommended by Matt Horne to make the step up to the Community senior team in the Kent County League.
It was several weeks before Richard made his debut in the 6-0 defeat of Chipstead in which he won the Man-of-the-Match accolade. Off the field, he gained a scholarship in the United States, returning to the team in March when he helped them win seven out of 10 games.
Team manager Darren Phillips said: "Richard is a natural athlete and his attitude is superb. He has made a massive impression on everyone.
"When he finishes his studies, a trial for the Charlton Athletic first team would not be out of the question."
Richard leaves for Wesleyan College, West Virginia in August and we wish him all the best for the future."
