Tickets are priced at £60 per head or £500 for a table of 10.

The trust secured funding for the first year of delivery of the project from Independent Television’s Peoples Millions Project for a year. That funding ends in December.

Now the Trust is seeking to secure funding for a further two to three years.

Carl Krauhaus, the Trust’s Disability and Mental Health officer, explained: “Twelve months ago we were approached by the Downs Syndrome Association to organise a football project for young  people with Downs Syndrome.

"Since then more than 100 kids have registered and we have between 25-30 regular attendees every Saturday at the training ground from the ages of five to 24.

"It’s now a multi-sport programme, so it’s not just football. We deliver tag rugby, street dance, cricket and tri-golf while we want to involve the young people in local environmental programmes, so they can get some idea of how to improve the local area.

"One of those programmes is coming up at the training ground soon when we’ll be asking the kids to design an environmental scheme

"Another great outcome during this first year of delivery has been the training of our coaches on a sign language course which has enabled them to communicate much more effectively with the young Upbeats on the sessions.

"So we’re keen to protect the funding for such a worthwhile cause allowing this project to develop further."
