Premier League Primary Stars is an education programme which connects learning to the world of sport.
Charlton Athletic Community Trust (CACT) has worked to deliver Primary Stars in various schools across the Royal Borough of Greenwich since 2016 through its Primary Stars Officer and other members of the Football and Sports Development team.
The programme combines subjects like Maths and English, with sport, particularly football, but also helps children develop life skills. Reading and creative writing challenges are an important part of the scheme, and children in two schools recently took part in a poetry competition, with finalists reading their entries out to Charlton Athletic Manager Karl Robinson and players Jason Pearce and Harry Lennon.
Nationally, the initiative aims to support 10,000 schools across England and Wales by 2019, working with children between five and 11 years old. It is available to every primary school.
