CACT’s 65+ mental health programme gets national recognition

A Charlton Athletic Community Trust (CACT) project for older people has been shortlisted for a national award.

The Up & At ‘Em programme, delivered by CACT on behalf of Oxleas NHS Foundation Trust, has been shortlisted for the National Positive Practice in Mental Health Awards, held at the Imperial Hotel in Blackpool on 12 October and judged by industry professionals.

Up & At ‘Em is in the running for the Older People’s Mental Health Award. Established in 2016, the scheme comprises weekly events in sport, leisure, art and culture, and activities have included theatre visits, boat trips, aerobics, arts and crafts and short tennis.

There were more than 40 nominations for the award in total, with CACT staff delighted to make the final four.

Carl Krauhaus, CACT’s Head of Early Help and Prevention, said:

“This project has been a huge success so far. Again, Oxleas have placed their trust in us to deliver important programmes for their clients and we have worked hard to ensure we continue to provide a high standard of client focused programmes.

“We felt it was a forward-thinking, collaborative approach and wanted to enter the award to also share our positive project with others. To be shortlisted nationally is a huge honour and achievement for both CACT and Oxleas.”

Carl will be attending the awards ceremony along with CACT CEO Jason Morgan MBE, Mental Health Officer Terry Peart and colleagues from Oxleas.
