CACT's men's health clients exercise their green thumb

Men are taking part in gardening activities as part of the men's health programme Charlton Athletic Community Trust (CACT) delivers, encouraging healthy lifestyles throughout the Royal Borough of Greenwich.

CACT recently teamed up with the Greenwich Co-operative Development Agency's "Growing Good Food in Greenwich" project to bring the benefits of gardening to participants.

Gardening is a great way of getting a full body workout which helps to improve strength, endurance and flexibility whilst helping to manage a whole host of medical conditions.

Gardening has a few surprising benefits, including:

- More exposture to soil means that gardeners have stronger imune systems.

- Balance and flexibility in feet and ankles is improved, which helps to prevent falls in older people.

If you want to get involved and volunteer with CACT's men's health group, head down to the Dare to Dream Garden behind the Clockhouse Community Centre in Woolwich between 1-3pm on Tuesday afternoons.
